Stanislaw Moniuszko: Flis

Album Summary

>Moniuszko, Stanislaw : Flis, opera
Conductor Ensemble

Notes & Reviews:

During a trip to Paris, Stanislaw Moniuszko wrote a draft of Flis - a one-act opera grounded in the landscape of the Vistula river. Perhaps it was the remoteness of his motherland which made Moniuszko compose another work soaked with the Polish spirit and refer to his native tradition. The libretto was written by Stanislaw Boguslawski, son of the National Theatre founder, Wojciech Boguslawski. It gained recognition not only of the audience, but also of linguists - written in old Polish, shapely and merry, it was perfectly fit to illustrate the vivid music grounded in the Polish folklore.
