A Fantastic Symphony
Oh my, I am still afloat after listening to this new recording. I have been on the lookout for an SACD recording of the Symphonie Fantastique and was hopeful that this would be the one that would present the piece in its full splendor. It has exceeded my fondest hopes. The performance is excellent;the recording is among the best I have heard of any music. It is close miked, placing you in the vacinity of the conductor's podium. As a result, the most subtle nuances are reproduced with sometimes startling clarity. While some may find this unrealistic, it is exactly the kind of music presentation that I admire. I heartily recommend this one.
