Schubert: Die Schone Mullerin

Album Summary

>Schubert, Franz : Die schöne Müllerin, song cycle, for voice & piano, D. 795 (Op. 25)
Performers Composer

Notes & Reviews:

"British tenor James Gilchrist and pianist Anna Tilbrook present a fresh, spontaneous take on Die schone Mullerin that should interest anyone who loves the cycle. Gilchrist's light voice is exceptionally supple and young-sounding, and his creamy legato is evidence of a terrific technique... Tilbrook matches the emotional tone Gilchrist sets with great sensitivity and nuanced flexibility. The sound of Orchid Classics' CD is well-suited to the material and the performance: warm, very clean, immediate, and intimate." -All Music Guide

Worth a listen!
Schubert is one of the foremost German art song composers and this song cycle is one of his most well-known. I really enjoyed Mr. Gilchrist’s execution of the dynamics and tempo. His voice fits this cycle just perfectly with his lyric lines and clarity of sound. The partnership between Mr. GilChrist and Ms. Tilbrook was particularly wonderful. Schubert’s music requires this and I was pleasantly surprised to hear such precision and attention to detail from the pair.
