Notes & Reviews:
This CD presents music closely connected with the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg. Johann Pachelbel was Stiftskantor (choir-master and organist) in Stuttgart from 1690-1692; F.I. Beck was born in Mannheim and worked there until about 1760; J.N. Hummel served as Kapellmeister in Stuttgart from 1816-1818, J.J. Abert filled the same post from 1867-1888, and Milko Kelemen, whose work was specially commissioned for this CD, has lived in Stuttgart for 35 years, where he was a professor of composition and has now become a true Stuttgart composer. This CD was presented on the occasion of the Great National Exhibition of Baden-Wurttemberg, in 2010, in which it represented the historic musical culture of the country. This CD is the official CD for the national exhibition and will be available at the exhibition sites in Baden-Wuerttemberg.
