Notes & Reviews:

Max Reger (1873–1916) composed his three cello suites in Meiningen in 1914. His work, oriented toward polyphony and capable of both the most tender sensitivity and extroverted roughness, embodies the post-Romantic disruption characteristic of the early 20th century. Cellist Adalbert Skocic descends from an old Austrian family of musicians, and was a member of the Vienna Philharmonic for decades. He retired from the orchestra to dedicate himself to his solo career, and to teaching. He recorded these suites in January 2009.
