Notes & Reviews:

Channel Classics' series of recordings with the Ebony Band is continued with a disc containing works by the Polish composers Jozef Koffler and Konstanty Regamey. The repertoire here is virtually unknown but remarkably interesting and appealing. The quintet by Regamey is a live recording and the cantata 'Die Liebe' by Koffler features soprano Barbara Hannigan, well-known for her first class performances of contemporary music.

"The Ebony Band plays the socks off this music; and the sonics are sharp, rich, and immediate."-American Record Guide

Gramophone Magazine
It is fascinating to see how composer like Regamey and Koffler negotiated their way through the technical and stylistic labyrinths of the time while simultaneously coping with extreme difficulties in social and civic life. For this reason alone, this disc is an elucidation.
