Gardens of Spain / Esther Gonthier

As one of Canada's foremost sopranos, Lyne Fortin is as much at ease on the greatest opera stages as well as a guest of orchestras or as a recitalist.

This collection of songs include popular old songs dressed up by composers like Nin, Delibes, Bizet or Obradors as well as Richard Strauss transforming troubling beautiful young girls into fowers.

A notable concert artist, Ms. Fortin has been a featured soloist with the orchestras of Montreal, Quebec, Calgary, Edmonton, Kitchener-Waterloo, CBC Vancouver Symphony, Orchestre Métropolitain, Fort Myers, and Pacific Symphony. In Europe, she has appeared at the Prague Spring Festival and on tour with the Violons du Roy.

On radio and television, she appeared in the Canadian premiere of McCartney's Liverpool Oratorio on CBC Television and has recorded Great Romantic Duets of French Opera with tenor Richard Margison. She also can be heard on a Christmas recording with the Orchestre symphonique de Québec for which she received a "Felix" at the ADISQ Gala and a recording of Mozart arias for Analekta.

Born in Lévis, Québec, Esther Gonthier is recognized as one of the most versatile pianists in Canada. Following her studies at the Université Laval and the Université de Montréal, she perfected her vocal coaching technique in France under Janine Reiss. Since that time, she is actively persuing her activities as a coach, concert pianist and choir master.
