Notes & Reviews:

Transcription Recordings refers to recordings of live performances made for use by broadcasting organizations before the advent of audio tape. During World War II transcriptions became commonplace in the US and were distributed to American forces via the Armed Forces Radio Service. None were for sale, but some servicemen kept them as souvenirs, preserving for posterity a unique record of the kind of music that played an important part in the morale of fighting troops.
