Notes & Reviews:

Gramophone Magazine said of Otto Klemperer's 1961 live studio recording, 'a conductor whose rugged feeling for the music pays colossal dividends'. The CD contains two interesting 'extras' - Mozart's delightful Serenata notturna from 1954 and a rare rehearsal sequence of the Requiem, both issued for the first time. WDR's remastering is of very high quality aided by the excellent preservation of the original tapes.

American Record Guide
If, like me, you enjoy Klemperer's way with Mozart symphonies, you'll be pleased with this. It is lovely and feels right.

BBC Music Magazine
Klemperer underlines the grand architectural proportions of the German Requiem while piercing close to its spiritual heart...the performance itself builds in monumental intensity from a fairly relaxed opening. The chorus is on its mettle and the orchestra produces wonderful playing...They don't come much better than this.
