Notes & Reviews:

The virtuoso pianist Franz Liszt was one of the musical titans of the Romantic era. Abandoning his spectacular career as a travelling performer in his mid-thirties, Liszt dedicated himself to a life of composing, conducting, teaching, and eventually religious devotion, even taking minor orders in the Roman Catholic Church. This biography follows this icon's life through France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, and his native Hungary - a kaleidoscope of cultural worlds whose folk music, literature and landscapes richly colored Liszt's art. In addition to the biography, this set includes 2 CDs of music spanning Liszt's career and access to a website containing hours of extra music and additional material.
