Mist Thorkelsdottir (b.1960) studied piano and harpsichord at the Reykjavik College of Music and later at the State University of New York at Buffalo where she studied with Morton Feldman and then at Boston University where she studied with Lukas Foss. She has received commissions and grants from performers and organizations in Iceland, Scandinavia and the U.S. She is dean of the music department at the Iceland Academy of the Arts.
