Carl Davis Collection presents Heroines in Music, a disc dedicated to the strong female characters depicted in Davis's film scores in newly arranged concert suites. The French Lieutenant's Woman made an international star of Meryl Streep; its suite runs the full gamut of emotions, from despair to its ecstatic conclusion. The Hotel du Lac Nocturne takes the raw materials of Davis's original score and shapes them into a touching and moody distillation of the original novel. The composer's witty and expressive score for the 1995 Pride & Prejudice series matched the brilliance of Jane Austen's scintillating text. Its 3-movement suite introduces the family, their critics, and the love story of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. And the delightful Cranford series soundtrack is the source of the final suite.
