Notes & Reviews:

From the age of 20 onward, Johannes Brahms never ceased writing music for the piano. The selection of works performed here on this new Mirare disc by French pianist Adam Laloum range from the poetic to the nostalgic and as a group, take on the characteristics of a personal journal. The 22-year-old Laloum was the winner of the 2009 Clara Haskil Competition and has been hailed by US critics as "a pianist to watch for."

Notes & Reviews:

Recording information: Le Ferme de Villefavard (11/02/2010-11/05/2010).

On my 'Best of 2011' list
Such fine playing of great music from a young, unknown (to me) pianist came as a surprise. This is special. It's not like I bought hundreds of CDs in 2011, so I'm not sure making my personal 'best of' list is much of a prize, but everything about this album stands out. Lovers of Brahms or the piano should not hesitate.
