Notes & Reviews:

The Quatuor Franz Joseph was formed in 2002 by four enthusiastic leading early-music string players from Montreal. The group invites you to discover the three string quartets, opus 1 by French composer, Hyacinthe Jadin. Born in 1776, Jadin was on the brink of a promising career when he died of tuberculosis at 24. Tinged with a pre-Romantic aesthetic the three string quartets, opus 1 is a French version of the Sturm und Drang movement which heralded the world of Schubert.
