Notes & Reviews:

Ludovit Rajter (b.1906) had deep roots in the Austro-Hungarian tradition of his teachers. During the 1930's he conducted the Budapest Radio, then the Bratislava Radio Orchestra and thereafter founded the Slovakian Philharmonic. His conducting and interpretations on recordings of the symphonies of his teacher Franz Schmidt set the standard in the field. His own musical compositions are melodious, wonderfully colorful in instrumentation, and influenced by Slavic and Hungarian folklore.
