Notes & Reviews:

In 1842, Robert Schumann wrote his formal piano quintet, provided in detail with complex structures and cross-references - hence the title of this CD, Tradition and Vision - and dedicated it to his wife Clara Schumann, to whom many of the references relate. She herself produced an excellent version of this work for four-handed piano, which can be heard on this CD. Austrian pianist Harald Ossberger and Greek pianist Christos Marantos additionally play the six impromptus Bilder aus dem Osten ('Images of the East').
