Prize-winning harpist Lavinia Meijer's third CD for Channel Classics brings together popular Fantasies and Impromptus by Spohr, Fauré, Pierné, Saint-Saëns, Roussel and Glière. Added to these are world premiere recordings of works by two completely forgotten composers for the instrument, Johannes Snoer (1868-1936) and Gabriel Verdalle (1845-1912). Meijer's fluid technique and keen musicality are heard to great effect here and Channel's superb multi-channel sonics add an unmatched level of clarity to the production.
