Luci mie traditrici was presented on May 19, 1998 in the Schwetzinger Festpiele under the German title Die tödliche Blume ("The Deadly Flower"). It was Sciarrino's first intention to dedicate the opera to Gesualdo, which is why this tragedy is often identified with the great madrigalist.
