Performer Composers

Notes & Reviews:

With his anthology Lessons of Worthe, the great Renaissance composer Thomas Tomkins placed his seal of approval on some the finest works of his time. This important manuscript features Tomkins' selection of masterpieces for keyboard by English composers such as John Bull, William Byrd and Thomas Tallis. On this disc, Bertrand Cuiller plays excerpts from the anthology using three different and fascinatingly different instruments - a claviorganum and harpsichords from England and Spain.

Notes & Reviews:

Recording information: Château de Coussay (10/28/2010-10/31/2010).
