Album Summary
Performer
Alexander Gavrylyuk (Piano)
Notes & Reviews:
At only 26, Russian pianist Alexander Gavrylyuk can already boast of an impressive international career. After having won several prestigious competitions (first prize Hamamatsu Competition in Japan at 16 and fi rst prize at the Rubinstein Competition in 2005), he has played with such prestigious orchestras as Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. His last recital at the International Piano Series in Amsterdam was a triumph and was recorded red hot by Piano Classics right after the event. Gavrylyuk's technique knows no limits, as is proven in the virtuoso Russian repertoire on this disc. However, there is so much more then technique here. He shapes phrases with striking sensitivity and possesses a nearly boundless palette of pianistic colors.
