Notes & Reviews:

Described as "a pianist of a bygone-era," Barbara Nissman imprints her personal stamp on recital favorites including Ravel's Gaspard, Scriabin's Fifth Sonata, Schumann's G minor Sonata, and Chopin's G minor Ballade. Novelties such as Mendelssohn's Etude in F major, Prokofiev's transcription of an Organ Prelude & Fugue by Buxtehude plus his set of Four Grandmother's Tales written during his brief stay in America are also included. The Prelude in Gb by Rachmaninoff provides a poignant conclusion to all these fireworks. "One of the last pianists in the grand romantic tradition of Liszt, Rachmaninoff and Rubinstein," Nissman connects the souls of the composers of the past to today's listeners. "Brilliant- technically and musically!"
