Notes & Reviews:

The four pieces featured on this CD constitute a genuine portrait of Catalan composer Joan Guinjoan's symphonism, as a testimony to both the solidness of his writing and the rich series of formal variants developed and the energy, rhythmic force and color of his orchestral work.

American Record Guide, March/April 2016
Joan Guinjoan's orchestral music is characterized by constant activity and energy. Each instrumental family usually works as one in a rapidly developing theme that climaxes before ceding to another. There is evidence of Guinjoan's appetite for extended techniques and creative orchestration. The exception is the violin concerto (Vol.1), which necessitates a more nuanced orchestrational balance to accommodate the soloist. Here there is more intrigue, more variation, and more of a formal contour to the work.
