Notes & Reviews:

This rerelease pays homage to the Consortium Classicum's longtime leader and clarinetist Dieter Klöcker who passed away on May 21, 2011. These two jewels of the chamber repertoire belong to the serenade genre, an extremely popular genre during Beethoven's times, if not with Beethoven himself. Today they continue to offer genuine listening pleasure, especially when performed with as much virtuosity as they are here.

Fanfare
Now here is a welcome addition to any classical recording library: This 'standout ensemble' and two classical masterpieces on the MDG label ... as close to demonstration quality as the CD medium is likely to get.

MusicWeb International, March 2012
The playing is excellent throughout this disc, and the sound is of MDG's characteristic demonstration quality. It's something for Beethoven enthusiasts who want to explore a less well known aspect of the composer's output.

Gramophone Magazine
Music from Cuba generally has a more prominent presence on disc than that of the majority of her Latin American neighbours...Both - and much lying in between - are represented in this nicely sung disc of unaccompanied pieces...The Cuban National Choir and their presumed spin-off sing with commitment and affection for the music and seem a well-balanced group...Nicely balanced sound, too.
