Notes & Reviews:

The Legacy of John P. Paynter honors a man whose passing left a great void in the wind band world. Paynter's contributions as a conductor, arranger, educator, commissioner, administrator, and mentor will undoubtedly impact generations of future musicians. The Legacy of John P. Paynter features some of Paynter's greatest arrangements. Honoring the memory and innumerable musical contributions of John P. Paynter, this album is a beautiful addition to the musical collection. Following The Legacy of Edwin Franko Goldman and The Legacy of Aaron Copland: Emblems, this album is the third in a series honoring the lives and music of individuals that made an impact on the concert band world. This album features pieces written by Frank Ticheli, Malcolm Arnold, C.L. Barnhouse, and Mark Camphouse to name a few.
