Chamber Vespers - Miniature Masterpieces Of The Italian Baroque / Faye Newton, soprano

Album Summary

Performers Ensemble Composers

Notes & Reviews:

Vespers, the evening portion of the Divine Office of the Roman-Catholic Church, has provided both occasion and inspiration for some of the most sumptuous music ever composed. Performed on period instruments is the Gonzaga Band's interpretation of some of the Italian Baroque's most famous vesper works including those by composers Alessandro Piccinini, Francesco Petrobelli, Girolamo Frescobaldi and more!

"Even with just two or three musicians, the sound they create is often remarkably opulent. Savan and company have a seemingly instinctive feel for this repertoire, their persuasive performances delivered with terrific flare and panache...it is impossible to dip into it and not discover a wonderful gem." -BBC
