Notes & Reviews:

Born in London in 1911, Maud Cunitz returned with her parents to Germany before the outbreak of World War I. She started singing minor roles when she was 15 and continued singing in a total of 95 minor roles in 77 operas and operettas before being hired in 1934 for her first solo engagement. Cunitz was one of those legendary leading singers who was completely dedicated to the ensemble of her opera house. Over the course of her career she sang two different roles in several Strauss operas as well as the classic breeches parts in the operatic repertoire. Maud Cunitz died in 1987.
