Album Remarks & Appraisals:
"The 17-cut “Jersey Boys” Christmas record is the holiday pop equivalent of one of those garishly spotlighted houses with plastic reindeer on the roof, a Nativity scene in the front yard and carols blasting from outdoor speakers. Produced by Bob Gaudio, a founder of the Four Seasons, it features six stars from various “Jersey Boys” casts, including John Lloyd Young, who played Frankie Valli in the original Broadway production. Mr. Young possesses the closest vocal equivalent (not very) of Mr. Valli’s falsetto, a sound that is only one element of his polished jazz-ballad interpretation of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” The rest of the collection is a stiff, noisy mash-up of carols and holiday trinkets, from “O Holy Night” to “Little Drummer Boy” to “Jingle Bell Rock,” arranged in a rough approximation of the Four Seasons style, with nostalgic side trips that include an inferior imitation of the Drifters’ “White Christmas.”" -The New York Times
