Serikon is a new ensemble, based in Gothenburg, Sweden, aimed to renew the historical. It is composed of singers and instrumentalists playing on period instruments, and the CD contains "standards" from the Renaissance, by famous composers such as Orlando di Lasso, Cipriano de Rore, and Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina. The last track on the CD contains a contemporary piece for solo trombone.

It is clear that the performance of early music has moved beyond an antiquarian preservation of a two-dimensional artifact into facing the problems of music-making in real time. Stighäll has supplied a challenge that other performers can now listen to, study, and imitate. And any listener can allow his imagination to travel through these "uncharted routes" back to the real musicians of the 16th and 17th centuries.
