Notes & Reviews:

Described as 'simply inspired' by La Nouvelle Revue Française, the music of award-winning French composer Nicolas Bacri defies trends or categorization. He uses familiar forms to create personal narratives both lyrical and witty in the Diletto classico, and his palette ranges from the dramatic, expressive and powerful Second Sonata to the gently evocative L'Enfance de l'Art. The 'poetic sensitivity and deftness' (American Record Guide on 8572266) of Eliane Reyes' playing has made her the dedicatee of numerous works by Bacri.

Reyes gives an elegant, sensitive and technically assured account of Bacri's works... this is an ideal disc for anyone looking for a benign introduction to contemporary/atonal music, and a raspberry to those who claim that new music is all tuneless, shapeless dreck.

Ritmo
The works included span from 1978 to 2007, representing faithfully the path of the French composer. Very interesting is the Sonata no. 2, whose 2010 review Eliane Reyes plays superbly here. The Belgian pianist is amazing in the Scherzo , showing a remarkable technique and a prodigious expressive force. The delicacy is alien either, as demonstrated in the bitter Adagio painful or the final fugue. In turn, Reyes also surprised by their ability evocative atmospheres in L'Enfance de l'art , which combines perfectly with the sounds impressionist expressionist features through dynamic soft and leisurely pace. Diletto classico -perfect synthesis of the ideas of Bacri -and other small works gives complete a highly recommended.

La Libre Belgique
Nicolas Bacri (born 1961) likes to say he retains various times they were timeless. Of classicism, the rigor of the expression. Of Romanticism, the density of expression. Modernism, broadening the scope of the term. And postmodernism, the mixture of technical expression. Pretty practical demonstration by this album, with parts, often brief, in the range 1978 to 2007. You will meet at different times Bach and Liszt, Debussy and Prokofiev, but with its own personality, consistent color and especially gratifying refusal of a dogma. Beautiful interpretation of the Belgian Eliane Reyes, muse of the composer.

This Sonata , dedicated to Julien Quentin, creator of the first version and now bearing the inscription in memoriam Kenneth Leighton , is revised for the 2010 Eliane Reyes ideal interpreter, a correctness of intent and a hard copies in the forced march forward, so stunning it's hard to move on without a long silence. We find that heartbreaking poetry of the Adagio original was already embedded in the early pieces are more consistent with post-serial aesthetic, why they are still alive more than thirty years apart, this disc (provided a brief record but illuminating), ideal gateway into the aesthetics of a contemporary composer who has found a path of evolution clean and original
