Notes & Reviews:
Orange Mountain's fourth volume documenting the concertos by Philip Glass features the world première recording of the composer's 2010 Double Concerto for Violin, Cello and Orchestra, performed by violinist Tim Fain and cellist Wendy Sutter. It is an exciting tour-de-force with three orchestral movements enveloped in duets by the soloists. The second work on this disc is Glass's first piano concerto, the Tirol Concerto for Piano and Orchestra. It is performed by the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra with Dennis Russell Davies as conductor and soloist.
