Album Remarks & Appraisals:
"Ellis Marsalis, the pianist, educator and prominent jazz patriarch, last made a Christmas album in 2002, “Jazz at Christmas in New Orleans.” You might not know it from the title, but the latest is an expanded edition of that release, with Bill Huntington on bass and Mr. Marsalis’s son Jason on drums and vibraphone. So what’s new here? Some additional vibraphone parts by the gifted young Roman Skakun and a handful of tracks recorded in the last two years. Among the highlights is an original waltz, “Christmas Joy,” with a sensitive vocal by Johnaye Kendrick, a product of the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance during its brief tenure in New Orleans." -The New York Times
