Born in London, pianist Peter Katin attended the Royal Academy of Music. His career began in 1948 with a successful Wigmore Hall début. Now 80 years old, Katin has made more than 40 recordings and has enjoyed a long career as a teacher at the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music.

Interestingly, the two recordings here, though programmed in two completely different ways, feature a good deal of the same music... If top-rate performances of Brahms are what one is looking for, then look no further: These are two very fine releases.
