Notes & Reviews:
Acclaimed pianist Sa Chen now turns her talents to this stunning recording of virtuoso piano works. Sa Chen was a prize winner at the Warsaw International Chopin Piano Competition in 2000 and the first Chinese prize winner at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2005
"Sa Chens playing matches virtuosity with poetry. She is fastidiously controlled and allows the passagework to emerge organically out of the music fabric, so there is always a sense of direction and structural cohesion. In the slow movements she is exquisitely lyrical without ever over-sentimentalising..." -BBC Music Magazine
Gramophone Magazine, June 2012
She projects the rolling passagework and multi-layered textures of the Rachmaninov's first movement with plenty of power and sweep...Chen's well-modulated, regulation pianism does justice to the Grieg Concerto's solo part but she offers little that her recorded competitors have not done better.
