Notes & Reviews:
The compositions on this CD represent many stages in the beautiful and fascinating journey taken by composers who explored the form of the fugue over the period of two centuries. In the early 18th century the form of the fugue was determined by the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. Even today, the mastery of counterpoint is an important aspect of any composer's workshop on the subject. In this era of New Music and modern composition it is only natural that things change and that the changes become visible in the context in which modern composers approach the fugue form.
