Notes & Reviews:

American Record Guide, July / August 2012
V begins with a Bachian fugue (Bruckner used to praise Rott's Bach performances and skill at improvisation). When it reappears as a chorale over dense, rhythmic chords, the bracing vigor of the string writing is worthy of Ernest Bloch. The final cadence - it's the same as the one at the end of Sibelius's Symphony 7 - is voiced with Ivesian audacity. The Israel Quartet is first-rate in both playing and interpretation, with recorded sound to match.
