Irish composer Philip Hammond was born in 1951. He studied at Queen's University Belfast and served as director of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland for 20 years. His wider career has encompassed teaching, performing and writing. His work as a correspondent, broadcaster and composer continues to bring him before public attention on radio, in the papers or on the concert platform.
