The Barcarolle is a song evoking the sea and water and, more to the point, the Venetian gondoliers: "Barcarolo" in Italian means "gondolier." Its characteristic rhythm suggests the motion of a boat on the water. Jean Dubé, 29 years old, is internationally recognized as one of the most important young pianists at the present time, appreciated for his musicality and power. He has been playing all over the world since he was four years old, and won his Steinway piano at the age of nine during the national competition "Young Mozart Prodigies in Paris."
