Album Summary
Ensemble ComposersNotes & Reviews:
The four composers featured on this CD were contemporaries who sometimes influenced each other. The piano trio grouping with flute instead of violin enjoyed great popularity in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries alongside the classical piano trio. The grouping cannot match the expressive profundity of the piano trio with violin or the string quartet, having instead the virtuosic fluency and bright character of a serenade. In consequence, piano trios with flute tend to be less strictly conceived and are more like virtuosic fantasias or sets of variations.
