Notes & Reviews:
On A due Cembali, keyboard players Aline Zylberajch and Martin Gester give us a sample of what might have been heard in an 18th-century salon. The capricious program of this disc features works by Italian, Austrian, German and Spanish composers that are rich with such programmatic effects as birdsongs and musical clocks. These solos and duets, played on harpsichords and positif organs, display glowing orchestral textures, wild Hispanic rhythms and crazy Viennese waltzes, tender serenades and of course, delirious counterpoint.
