L'Tducation musicale
A hard event as this is the first record of the young Romanian tenor-cons, Valer-Sabadus Barna, in a program entirely devoted to the composer Johann Adolph Hasse. composer Saxon, having most of his career in Dresden, it became Kapellmeister Program including arias from the Didonne abbandonata, the Gelosia and Artaserse that gives pride to the voice, where you can find accents close by Handel and Vivaldi. A remarkable vocal performance, a clear timbre and elegant, colorful, an extended range, a beautiful vocal line and an undeniable vocal presence. To listen to absolutely!

This is a superb disc for lovers of the high Baroque and beginnings of bel canto, not to mention countertenor singing.

International Record Review, May 2012
Barna-Sabadus dazzles with the swiftness and surety of his execution. His voice seems to have a higher centre than, say, Andreas Scholl's...The last Didone aria takes more than 11 minutes: an entrancing vocal line above an orchestral simplicity which is often composed of staccato chords, which Barna-Sabadus captivatingly tracing the melodies.

Fanfare Magazine, July / August 2012
At the beginning, I was apprehensive about the performance, since the opening movement of the sinfonia is taken at a breakneck speed, enough so that the horns in particular seem a bit muddied. But the second and third movements soon settle into a reasonable pace, with fine playing especially by the oboes and strings. Hofstetter keeps the pace throughout moving along, and the orchestra never overwhelms the singer, rather playing the appropriate supporting role, even when the lines become equal in difficulty with the vocal part. The real sensation, however, is Barna-Sabadus, whose clear and flexible voice gives to my mind a true sense of what castrati could accomplish. He is always on pitch, every nuance and articulation is precise and clear, and his range and interpretations are, in a word, brilliant. I foresee a fabulous future for him, for I hope he is out in front of the revival of the opera seria by Hasse, and the many others that need further exposure.... . No matter; this disc should be in your collection.

American Record Guide, September / October 2012
Hasse's music is absolutely gorgeous, and Valer Berna-Sabadus's singing is astonishing! Of course his voice is high, but that seems beside the point when one considers the extreme subtlety of his voice. There is no reaching or screeching here, only pure beauty.
