It can safely be said that in the late 17th - early 18th centuries we find the pinnacle of achievements in the arts of North German organ building and composition. Long traditions of organ building were nurtured through the Renaissance and into the Baroque. After completing a Masters degree in Organ and Harpsichord under the late Anthony Jennings at The University of Auckland, James Tibbles undertook post-graduate study at the Royal Conservatory, The Hague under Bob van Asperen, as well as pursuing studies on historic organ and fortepiano. James' research interests include the history of Early Music in New Zealand, early New Zealand organs, and aspects of the performance of Bach's keyboard works.
