Notes & Reviews:

Praised by Strad Magazine for their "high-octane" performance, the award-winning Aeolus Quartet is among the finest young string quartets performing today. Since its inception in 2008, the all-American quartet has been awarded prizes at nearly every major competition in the United States, most recently the Grand Prize winners of the 2011 Plowman Chamber Music Competition and 2011 Yellow Springs Chamber Music Competition, and they have performed across the globe to great acclaim. Their new album Many-Sided Music features three attractive and virtuosic works by emerging, young American composers, and is anchored by William Bolcom's beloved "Three Rags for String Quartet," a piece originally written for piano. The recording is the Aeolus Quartet's second release on the Longhorn Music label, and it represents the culmination of a two-year residency at the Butler School of Music in Texas.
