Notes & Reviews:

In 2012, the St. Thomas Boys Choir Leipzig celebrates its 800th birthday. This album is part of the celebration of this choir's rich musical heritage and features the choir led by both current and former cantors of St. Thomas.

American Record Guide, July / August 2012
The performance standard is very high, especially considering the technical demands of the repertory. If there is a weak link in the choral sound, it is not with the boys who sing soprano and alto, but with the tenors and basses who sound to me like teenagers whose voices have recently changed. The difference only a few years can make is demonstrated by the best of the English choirs, where the undergraduate choral scholars display more solidity, assurance, and technical seasoning than the young men heard here. Even with small lapses in intonation and control, the St Thomas sound can be heard with great satisfaction. As with any sampler recording, this one may prompt the listener to explore further.
