Notes & Reviews:

Rarities from the sacred oeuvre of the renowned Leipzig composer Mendelssohn Bartholdy. Cantor Biller combines the fragment of the composer's Christus oratorio with his Sechs Sprüche, op 79. In performance, these disparate fragments become a unified work of convincing force. The Christus oratorio which Mendelssohn started work on in 1847 was supposed to complete a trilogy. However because of Mendelssohn's early and unexpected death in November 1847, this oratorio remains a fragment.

American Record Guide, July / August 2012
The engineers did extremely well with these performances recorded in concert at the church in 2007 and 2008; and the booklet comes with full notes, texts, and translations. Liszt once referred to Mendelssohn as "Bach reborn"; and if you can't feel that connection from Leipzig, you can't feel it anywhere. So maybe this turns out to be just a little bit indispensable after all.
