Notes & Reviews:
Short-listed for a 2012 Gramophone Award, this is the latest in a line of magnificent Carole Cerasi recitals for Metronome. Domenico Scarlatti, who was born in the same year as J.S. Bach and Handel, was a brilliant keyboard player whose 555 sonatas require considerable dexterity. For this recording, Cerasi has chosen 15 contrasting sonatas that reflect Scarlatti's virtuosity, unexpected eccentricities, and Iberian influences.
Gramophone
A delight.
