I have long known of the Capriccio by Kjell Roikjer (1901-99), and now I know that it presents the tuba soloist with formidable challenges of technique. Hofmeir, a very impressive player with a solid and often singing tone quality, handles the challenges with seeming ease. Fine readings by the orchestras.
