Notes & Reviews:
The gestation of Les Noces was the longest of all the works written by Igor Stravinsky. In 1917, he finished the drafting of the musical material, but it took six years to complete the final orchestration. This fascinating recording offers the listener a chance to compare the 1919 original version (which may be considered by some to be more 'authentic') with the final version from 1923. Performed by the Choir of Radio France conducted by René Bosc, this SACD also includes a bonus of Stravinsky's Étude pour Pianola, which was also written in 1917.
