Notes & Reviews:

This album is a unique collaboration between the young Danish composer Kasper Rofelt and accordionist Bjarke Mogensen, to whom all works on this premiere recording were dedicated. From the intimate Nightsongs to the colorful Light Falling, this CD offers both solo and chamber works with a variety of musical characters and idioms. "Bjarke Mogensen is an astonishment on record. Once heard, never forgotten" - The Arts Journal, New York 2011

The Song I’ll Never Sing/Kasper Rofelt/ Bjarke Mogensen /Dacapo
The young composer Kasper Rofelt has created an album’s worth of accordion music played by the virtuoso Bjarke Morgensen. The music is distinctly Nordic having an outer-worldly stillness and detachment. This effect is created by a very fast harmonic rhythm that exerts a kind of weightlessness. Often the voice leading is surprising and takes a lot of unexpected turns, yet there is still a unseen hand of harmonic tradition that underpins the progressions. Formally, the closest other composer I can compare it to, is a very young Sofia Gubaidulina.
