Continuing the tradition of Altissimo's popular "Not Sousa" series, we are proud to present Not Sousa 4: Marching On ... More Great Music NOT by John Philip Sousa. Although Sousa remains the preeminent name in the arena of march music, it is not solely his domain. The goal of this series has been to create an ultimate compilation that features other great "Masters of March"- William Paris Chambers, Morton Gould, Karl King, Edwin Franko Goldman, Charles Barnhouse, Henry Fillmore, and others that are featured on this compilation. This is an attractive collection of band marches by various composers, some quite familiar (Victor Herbert, Howard Hanson), some probably better known to band geeks like me (Charles Barnhouse, Edwin Franko Goldman). The musical style, with some exceptions (Hanson's March Carillon), hews to the tried and true march formula. The sound is perfectly serviceable.
