I don't want this aspect to discourage those who might get this disc, because it's really gorgeous. White has a gift for writing genuinely lyrical, sensual, yet classically restrained music, which makes its beauty even more striking. She's one of several composers I note nowadays who are investigating the "aura" of sounds as a generating force for a new harmonic practice (John Luther Adams and various French Spectralists come to mind). Excellent performances throughout.
